Treating both cases according to queue order may be simple, but it does not necessarily move the right case forward at the right time.
Next-best-action capabilities can change that approach by considering the current journey stage, unresolved barriers, payer requirements, deadlines, previous activity, and potential impact.
Instead of asking, "What should I work on next?", teams can ask a more meaningful question: "What action is most likely to move this patient forward?"
This turns prioritization from simple task management into a more informed approach to progressing the patient journey.

The value of intelligent patient access comes from connecting these capabilities rather than treating them as separate improvements.
Information captured at intake can shape the workflow that follows. A change in case status can trigger a new action. An emerging barrier can reprioritize work. A completed task can move the journey forward or create an exception for review.
